We rely on the concept that any commercial activity which benefits from natural environments must, by any means, retribute the benefits obtained through the direct or indirect use of nature’s resources. At Photo in Natura we are seeking for this objective through the following practices:
- Granting image usage rights, free of charge, for non-profit socio-environmental organizations, scientists, researches done in public schools and universities, philanthropic publications aimed at environmental awareness, artistic projects with socio-environmental purposes and others.
- Presenting free photo exhibitions, lectures and courses during events targeted at fomenting environmental awareness through ecotourism, birdwatching, nature photography and other activities that can bring socio-environmental benefits.
- Meticulous checking and careful diffusion of scientific information related to the images we produce, as a means of education for natural sciences, through the publication of blogs and articles in other channels of communication.
- Adoption of minimum impact practices on our daily office routines, such as: acquiring equipment with better electrical efficiency; proper sorting and destination of waste; use of reusable or recycled office supplies; preference for collective transport during work trips; reduction of car trips by opting for having our home and business office in the same building; preference for sending files and documents by internet rather than using printed matter and sending packages by shipping companies.
- Development of alternative photographic accessories by means of reusing waste materials and parts, thus diminishing costs and stimulating the art of photography.
Another cornerstone of our attitude towards natural environments is the concern of never causing excessive disturbance at a given location in search for a nice picture. The boundary between obtaining a rare image and respecting the subject has to be very clear on our everyday life in contact with nature.
The animals, plants, people and landscapes pictured in this website were not manipulated or harmed by any means in order to obtain the images. Likewise, none of the photographs were digitally manipulated – changes were limited to basic color, contrast, saturation and sharpness corrections done by image editing software.
